115%: Spam volumes have more than doubled between May and July 2012
Berlin, August 21, 2012 – In May, June and July 2012 the number of unwanted spam e-mails clogging user inboxes rose sharply. Within three months the daily amount of spam more than doubled (115 percent). In July alone, the spam volume increased by 56.4 percent. The same applies to the particularly dangerous malware e-mails: Their numbers rose by 54.3 percent in July.
Each month, the research team of eleven, leading German e-mail security provider, presents the „Number of the Month” – a number resenting and illustrating a current issue or trend in e-mail security.
