The eXpurgate virus outbreak detection system identifies and earmarks new viruses or worms within a few seconds or minutes of their first appearance. Virus outbreak detection closes the critical time gap inherent in conventional scanners between a virus appearing and when signatures being updated. As a component of eXpurgate protection, virus outbreak protection allows seamless protection against viruses right after they appear.
The virus outbreak detection system is based on tried-and-tested eXpurgate technology: similar to waves of spam mail, new types of viruses usually spread very quickly. The presence of other distinguishing features allows eXpurgate to recognize these viruses quickly and reliably. The time advantage compared to classic, signature-based virus scanners totals on average more than 12 hours.
