Approximately every 20 seconds, German e-mail recipients are victims of a phishing attack. This figure was calculated by the eleven research team’s e-mail security experts on the basis of the e-mail volume checked in June, 2010 by the eXpurgate Managed Service. Favorite targets of phishers include online payment services, followed by social network user accounts.
German companies are not responding to the economic crisis by economizing on IT security. This conclusion was the result of a survey conducted by eleven, the leading German e-mail security service provider, in conjunction with the German IT security magazine IT-Sicherheit. 64 percent of companies have not cut spending on IT security in any way, and have no plans to do so in the future despite the current economic situation. Only 13 percent stated that they had cut spending in this area.

Berlin – June 7, 2010 – Trojans comprise almost three-quarters of all malware sent by e-mail. At the same time, the volume of malware has climbed considerably since the beginning of the year.
More and more of the spam received by German companies also originated in Germany according to the E-Mail Security Report for April 2010 published today by eleven, the leading German e-mail security specialist.
