The eXpurgate spam filter and e-mail categorizing service can also be installed as an in-house system. Here the eXpurgate filter is integrated as a plug-in into the customer’s existing mail server software. This solution is intended for companies that wish to operate a fully independent e-mail service.
eleven checks and categorizes the incoming e-mail, but on the customer’s server. Only small checksums are checked against the central eXpurgate database using an encoded connection (SSL). This is where the bulkcheck central to the eXpurgate inspection procedure. Generally the inspection procedure causes no noticeable delay in delivery.
This solution has been devised for companies wishing to operate their e-mail service on an entirely in-house or stand-alone basis. Plug-ins are developed for UNIX and Microsoft-based mail servers.
After installation and configuration, eXpurgate requires no further administration during operation. Nor are regular updates required. Like the ASP version, the in-house option offers numerous configuration options. For example, customers can individually define how e-mails in certain categories are to be handled.
Additional options for the in-house version include comprehensive virus protection with virus outbreak detection and a freezing function.
eXpurgate.Inhouse can be integrated into any conventional e-mail system and is compatible with all common operating systems. eXpurgate offers protocol interfaces for SMTP, Milter, Spamc and Spamd (SpamAssassin).
