eXcacheD - database mirroring for ISP's
In the so-called "eXdb" database, all information necessary for categorizing incoming e-mails is stored. The eXdb-Servers at Eleven are queried for each incoming e-mail in order to assign a category to the e-mail.
For Eleven E-Mail Security setups facing very large amounts of e-mail, like in the case of ISPs or major corporations, Eleven offers eXcacheD, a Caching Proxy Server for remote queries to the eXdb database. Its mode of operation is similar to Eleven In-House E-Mail Security, except that all relevant eXdb data are mirrored and constantly updated on the customer's local server:
eXcacheD stores the results of recent eXdb queries, thus effectively reducing outbound traffic, while at the same time improving response time - especially with large-scale MTAs. What's more, using the eXcacheD server enhances security in the case of failure.
